Biggest rip off

Bought ticket 1/15 and was unable to use ticket. Called/e-mailed for 4 months with no response. Got e-mail from them in Sept that I didn't use my ticket. E-mailed back problem and they responded in good faith the would give me a voucher for part of my money. In Oct received voucher said it was good thru 1/16. Not much time. When I read fine print it said travel had to be completed by that date. E-mailed for extension and they said no. Rude agent

The third time's the charm. I'll never fly with Allegiant again. They are Rude, snobby and bothered by your presence. It's dirty, cramped and uncomfortable. Everyone employed by them, behaves as though, they're annoyed by life, in general and that you're there for them to take out their aggression on you. A nightmare, all the way around. They make you feel like you're in prison and they're the guards. Don't waste your time, trying to save money or getting a quick flight. It's not worth the trouble.

Best review so far. Welcome to Micky Mouse Airlines.

The best punchline of all is how much you save after paying all of the fees. Can I get a rimshot?

Anything? I'm dying here.....crickets chirping.

,Still no resolution. I have booked my next 2 fights through Southwest. Bye Bye Allegiant. I have told everyone that will listen. with the price of the ticket and 1 bag each way and priority boarding the cost of my Southwest ticket was 230.00. with allegiant my price would have been 260.00 without priority boarding. Seems if you need clothes and your computer Allegiant is not such a value. BIG SURPRISE

That you Ms. Lanna and Lynn in the Indianapolis terminal for showing me the light. They are not a "value". never on time, ugly people that refuse to act civil and poor equipment. So ms Lanna and Ms. Lynn and Mr. Maurice J. Gallagher, Jr.. CEO, Have a nice flight.

Allegiant Air - Baggage Policy Review from Camillus, New York

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Flew from pie to Syracuse yesterday. Was charged 50 dollars for an overweight bag which I was not informed of. Called and spoke to someone told them I did not consent to the charge and they told me that I did. Why would I pay 25 dollars for a bag when I booked my flight if I was going to be charged another 50 dollars? A 70 dollar flight ended up being 150 dollars. Worst service at the airport. Worst airline I've ever been on. Worst customer service.

Its not the airlines fault you don't read the terms of the contract that you agreed to when you bought the ticket. The Allegiant website states: "Additional charges will be applied for any checked bags exceeding 40 lbs.

weight..." When you pay to check a bag, you pay for them to carry a bag up to 40 pounds. If it is more than that, you may additional. The questions I have are: Why did you stuff your suitcase so full that it weighed more than the weight limit?

Why didn't you weigh this bag before you left home or the hotel? The cost arises solely from your failure to properly pack your bag within the weight limit.

The questions your asking me have nothing to do with the fact that I was charged without anyone telling me. I never consented to the charges, therefore that is wrong.

Still waiting to ***

Three hours sitting on the plane at Grand Junction Colorado. Excuse after excuse. Still no takeoff time. They let us off the plane but can't leave the terminal ( it is closed for the night) so we are locked in. The latest excuse is their paperwork does not match. They have decided to give us small cups of warm water. They now have turned the heat on and it is getting hot.

Allegiant Air Flight 222 Review from Vancouver, British Columbia

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I recently flew Allegiant Flight 222 - Bellingham, WA, to Las Vegas, departing 2:31pm & arriving 5:03pm - non-stop. It was my maiden booking with Allegiant & trip to Vegas. Hence, truly stocked about the trip. My rationale for choosing Allegiant was primarily to save time, otherwise I could fly from Seatac or YVR. The non-stop feature appealed to me. Price was competitive, but nothing to Yelp about. As well, friends had flown Allegiant & landed safely, albeit late a couple of times. My flight was during a busy long weekend, hence, minor delays not unexpected. I got to the airport & cleared TSA like VIP. To my disappointment, the flight was delayed with a new departure time of 5:38pm - a 3+ delay, owing to "mechanical" issues. There was no customer service at the gate to provide info. Ground crew later indicated a "rescue" aircraft would be dispatched from Vegas to fetch us. The delay increased with a new departure time of 5:58p. During the delay, drinks were offered - no snacks. Otherwise very scant info. No rebook or rescheduling provided, notwithstanding the flight delay policy. We finally left the ground after 6pm, tired. They had the audacity to sell us snacks, which I duly boycotted. Essentially F222 got sandbagged to fill the evening flight. No recourse, as the delay was <4 hours. Due to the delay, I canceled my evening plans in Vegas. Incurred $75 in roaming data fees, as I frantically tried to reach Allegiant customer care (unsuccessfully) & rearrange hotels. I requested $75 rebate to no avail. Suffice to say I will not be choosing Allegiant in the future. True. I would highly caution anyone thinking of choosing this airline:- Flight 222 (2:31p) from Bellingham is a bait (ghost) flight - it serves to fill the evening flight. Hence, guaranteed to get to be sandbagged (delayed) for 3+ hrs, if it's not full.- Allegiant customer service doesn't exist; don't waste your time calling or contacting them. The ground crew, who step in in lieu for customer service, have NO clue. They will waste your time. - Allegiant flight delay/cancellation policy isn't worth the paper it's written on; totally useless. Again, don't waste your time invoking it.- there is zero (0) recourse for delays < 4hrs. Delays 4hrs plus receive $50 voucher; totally useless. - did I mention DO NOT (repeat, DO NOT) fly Flight 222 (2:31p). It's a bait (ghost) flight - only flies if the plane is full; otherwise it will NOT fly.- Allegiant staff will lie to your face. Whatever rationale they offer for the delay is a LIE.- Allegiant will let you down - it's the only guarantee they can keep.

Worst Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Terrible! I had a family member pass away and missed my flight and they said well, because you didn't notify us 24 hours in advance you forfeited your flight; regardless of the travel insurance I purchased and the travel insurance documentation even says if there's a death you have 168 hourst to rebook. They told me their allegiant policy over rules the trip insurance document.... um then why did you sell it to me if it doesn't mean anything and the original rules of the ticket travel still apply? Well that's our "Prerogative." Click. SERIOUSLY? Worst customer service out of any company I've done business with, by far. Why would anyone fly with this company? First and last experience. Also, this was one of several calls I had put into them with either promises of automated call backs, within 1-2 hours, or after sitting on hold for a hour+ and then disconnected once someone "picked up" but chose to be silent and disconnect the call, or customer service saying they couldn't pull it up at that moment and would call me back... So despite my extensive attempt, a death in the family which was very difficult on its own, my purchasing travel insurance through them in case of emergency, I've completely forfeited my flight... voluntarily. In short, they have the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I contacted my Congressman, who can investigate federal agencies. 49 USC 41762--Airline Passenger Fair Treatment Act.

It appears Department of Transportation (DOT) has EXEMPTED Allegiant from this into 2018!!!!!

Without the law in effect, the airline can treat people how they want without any responsibility.

Guest

First, I doubt that Allegiant Air is in the travel insurance business and so your travel insurance was purchased from another company, although bought through Allegiant. So your real complaint would be with the travel insurance company for failing to provide to you adequate insurance coverage.

Also, if you are not entitled to what your are asking for, then it doesn't matter how "socially" the people say no. What make you feel entitled to have people sooth your feelings, when you have not right to ask for it in the first place.

When you called Allegiant, you knew your ticket was not cancellable and what you were asking for "from the airlines" was something to which you are not entitled. When they said no, you deem that to be rude.

Would it be any less so if they said "no with sweetness." The company to whom you should have addressed the issue was the insurance company that issued the travel policy you bought.

Allegiant may have passed on the bad insurance news to you, but it is the insurance company itself you should have been addressing not Allegiant.

Well, I hate to break it to you but I cannot reschedule a flight with the travel insurance company which was sold to me through Allegiant. I know this boggles your mind because you think you know what you're talking about but have no clue, but yet still feel the need to attack an individual on a subject which you are choosing pieces to pick apart, and don't know the entire situation.

Obviously, I didn't go into minute details on the entire process. Yes, duh, the travel insurance is not "Allegiant Travel Insurance" however, you're supposed to reschedule through them as per the guidelines. Also, it does matter how they say no, as their JOB is titled "CUSTOMER SERVICE." I'm the customer their JOB is to tell me no per this guideline; not tell me no because they "feel like it" it's 'no' today in which ever manner they choose. I highly doubt any company, regardless how pitiful it may be, would hire individuals to answer customer service calls to make up rude answers as they go along, versus outlining where the company stands on the topic.

Side note... who randomly browses complaints to tell people their complaint isn't good enough for you?.... then don't read reviews of the company and continue to do business with them. (weird) You're not even outlining facts you're just attacking someone who was treated rudely unsolicited...

I was calling to book another flight. Do you think I would've said, oh well I lost my $250 and booked another $250 flight versus going through US Airways and paying $450 for my rescheduled flight if the customer service rep wasn't rude?

Guest

Also regardless of the loss of my flight my complaint was about the horrid customer service. They should invest in a quality assurance program and make an effort to hire individuals with decent social skills. Well, actually that might just be their "prerogative." ....Hire felons right out of prison so that when they speak to customers it's clear that they're thugs and have no respect for you as a person, let alone as one of their customers.

Guest

Allegiant Air is pretty clear they offer no bereavement refunds. You bought a non-refundable flight, and did not properly notify them you would not be using the ticket.

If you want to avoid these problems, fly an airlines with refundable tickets. Allegiant web site says: "You can receive a full refund of your ticket purchase if you notify us within 24 hours of your purchase, provided the scheduled time of departure was at least one week (168 hours) away at time of booking. After 24 hours, tickets purchased are non-refundable.

There are no change fees to change your dates of travel if you purchased Trip Flex travel protection, as long as these changes are made at least one hour prior to travel. Otherwise, a standard change fee applies to any ticket changes.

In an effort to keep our fares low for all passengers and to stay competitive, Allegiant does not offer a bereavement exception.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

In other words, within 24 hours of PURCHASING A TICKET YOU CAN CANCEL IT, otherwise it is non-refundable, although you can apparently change the flight at a cost, if you notify them at least 7 days before the flight.

Within the 7 day period there is no refund or change allowed unless you bought Trip Flex.

Well clearly you felt the need to post a useless comment without reading my complaint thoroughly. As I purchased travel insurance through them on the same transaction as my ticket.

That travel insurance documentation clearly states and covers for death of a family member. Doesn't say bereavement as most organizations or large companies would use, says death of family member.

So I know the ticket I purchased was not cancelable etc; hence the reason to purchase the insurance. If I purchase travel insurance I would assume that the terms of that insurance would supersede the terms of the ticket...as any consumer would.

Go ahead, try and change your baggage after you book a flight!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I simply wanted to upgrade my carry on bag to a checked bag. This company makes it impossible to accomplish this task.

They used to have that ability on their website but now when you purchase a trip and select a Carry On bag they do not allow you to remove it and add a Checked bag. They give you two options, pay for a checked bag in addition to the carry on or call them. They never answer the phone. It is a joke getting through to them on the phone.

What is even worse is trying to find a phone number for the reservation department. They need to be made aware that this is unacceptable customer service.

Allegiant Cares about nothing but a dollar!

Thank you for contacting Allegiant Travel. We are very sorry for your loss. Please be advised we do not offer exceptions due to bereavement reasons. Allegiant offers Travel Protection as a benefit to all passengers booking a new reservation. We take calls every day where something unforeseen has affected passengers travel plans. Travel Protection offers a one-time change and cancellation with no fees and protects your vacation and travel investment. Travel Protection is a practical fee to add to your reservation to have the flexibility to change and/or cancel without incurring any penalty fees. If you are passed your travel date or within the cut-off you will be marked as a ‘no-show’ and you will forfeit the funds paid for that flight. Please be advised all our tickets are non-refundable and any cancellation will result in a credit for future travel. Thank you for contacting Allegiant Travel Alyssa S.Allegiant Travel - Customer CarePhone: 702-505-**** http://www.allegiantair.com"Travel is our deal"From: Allegiant Air on behalf of Sent: Saturday, August 8, 2015 4:00 PMTo: Reservations CenterSubject: Customer Request For Assistance: other ... I will surely share your response on social media (it goes a long way), with the economy the way it is in Las Vegas one would think an Airline that caters to this area would do anything in there power to build the economy up. NOT so with Allegiant, this would have been our 4th trip with Allegiant and will surely be our last as we will never book with you again. My lose is your gain perhaps this is how you make a profit or give out bonuses whatever it is I would rather see MY money go to a charity, however with the lack of empathy shown I know damn well this will not happen! Enjoy I hope the money is well spent, I am sure I am not the first person this is happened to after all you do need some way to keep your Airline in business at any expense. Great business and customer care....not. And by the way the people operating your phone are extremely rude but i guess I would be too if i was paid minimum wage and only received bonuses if someone involuntary forfeited there trip. PS in the cut off period I already explained i did not know 7 days ago this would happen and waiting each time on the phone only pushed it ahead, you need to get more than one phone. After reading the reviews on blogs you have once again stood up to the reputation as being the worst, the one thing that is positive is I will do my homework from now on, so thank you for that. Allegiant Air - 17 Hours Advance Flight Delay Notice aka Courtesy Email!!!
Updated by user Aug 16, 2015

Update 8/15/15: Allegiant replied with one time travel voucher after some deductions. I don't think it was fair.

Live and learn. Quoted all of their policies.

Had to write to DOT and BBB.

I urge as many people keep complaining. They must do something about their Contact...

Original review Jun 28, 2015
Please don't EVER fly Allegiant.

Today is 6/28/15.
My flight was to leave at 1:30p.
At 12:50am I got a courtesy notification that my flight is delayed and would now leave at 6pm.
It also said flight time is not certain.

Hmm.. hmmm

I was already having a bad feeling.

Now I can't reach their call center, BECAUSE YOU NEVER REALLY CAN.

And it may take more than 1 hour to get an agent to pick your call.

So I booked my entire round trip from another reliable brand to fly out today.

I don't know how I am even gonna get any flight credits!!!

It sure is a very costly lesson to learn. Very indeed.
